Vegan Double Hot Chocolate


You guys. Oh my goodness gracious you GUYS.

I have just put the best thing that is in liquid-form in my mouth, and it was homemade. ‘Oh geeweez Sarah, you just drank something homemade con-fudging-gratulations.’

Well pardon me, but this is probably the first time where I’ve made a hot drink that is not made out of a sachet of processed ready made hot chocolate powder. I’ve made this a couple o’ times now, and I just realized this was considered vegan (that is… if you used almond milk instead of milk milk)


So to start with, you will need about a cup of chocolate almond milk OR regular almond milk (wouldn’t be DOUBLE chocolate no more) OR just [chocolate] milk (but then it wouldn’t be all vegan and hipster-y anymore), and you will need to pop that in the microwave oven for 2 minutes on high. While you wait, go listen to this song. After waiting for two excruciating minutes, pour in a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder (extra brownie points if you use dark cocoa) and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar -depending on your preferred amount of sweetness- and whisk that all up till it’s nice and.. brown [?].


After that, you could always call it a day and just pop it back in the microwave for half a minute and drink that all up which is all swell, but if you would like to enhance the chocolate flavour -make it more chocolatey perhaps?-, just whisk in a little less that 1/4 of a teaspoon of cinnamon powder OR coffee granules. Makes it taste somewhat better.
